Fate of the Furious Super Bowl spot has submarines, explosions and jumping cars

Universal Pictures used its time during the Super Bowl to air a new Fate of the Furious TV spot, highlighting some more of the ridiculousness the movie will offer.

The Fate of the Furious is the eighth installment in the Fast and Furious franchise, although this movie will offer the biggest twist yet. The first trailer for the movie was released in December, and before that a quick 15-second teaser was released which promised entirely new vehicles for the franchise, including snowmobiles and a submarine.

New actors like Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron have joined the cast for the eighth movie. Mirren has a very minor role, but Theron will play the team’s newest adversary, a woman named Cipher.

The Fate of the Furious will be the first movie in the franchise following Paul Walker’s death in November 2013. The only other movie Walker was not included in was the 2006 film, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

The Fate of the Furious will be released on April 14.
