Netflix’s weird series from Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, The OA, has been renewed for a second season.
Marling made the announcement during a Facebook Live interview with Vulture this morning, sharing the 16-second teaser that can be seen above. The series, which follows a woman who believes she’s an angel and is telling a group of teenage boys — and their teacher — the story of her disappearance, debuted to mixed reactions from critics and polarized audiences.
Although it’s impossible to know if the series performed well for Netflix considering the company doesn’t release official numbers, The OA was heavily talked about around the time of its debut just before the holidays. It’s also incredibly rare that Netflix doesn’t renew an original series for a second season, with critical failures like Flaked also getting picked up for another season.
The teaser doesn’t hint at when the new season will be available to stream, but it should be sometime this year.
The OA’s first season is currently available to watch on Netflix.
