Six of the greatest animated films ever are getting a limited theatrical run this summer, courtesy of distributor GKids. Iconic Japanese animation house Studio Ghibli will be the focus of this series, with movies from My Neighbor Totoro to Howl’s Moving Castle being shown on the big screen starting in June.
The Studio Ghibli event will see six of the company’s best-known films hitting theaters for a weekend each throughout the year. Each one is directed by Hayao Miyazaki, the visionary who recently came out of retirement to return to filmmaking.
My Neighbor Totoro will kick off the series on June 25. Each film will screen for two nights in both English and Japanese; the full list is available below. Tickets are on sale starting April 28, so bookmark this page until then — these films, as we’ve written about before, are some of cinema’s highlights, and there’s no better place to watch them than in a theater.
