It feels like the Planet of the Apes franchise has been building up to this moment as Caesar prepares for the battle of his life in War for the Planet of the Apes.
Caesar, the intelligent ape introduced in 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, is on a crusade to protect his own kind from a ruthless Colonel, played by Woody Harrelson. It’s after Caesar and his family suffer tremendous loss at the hands of the Colonel that he decides to tap into the darker side of his intelligence and abilities, seeking vengeance for those who were taken from him. The final battle between the Colonel and Caesar, between man and ape, will decide the fate of the races.
War for the Planet of the Apes is the third movie in the franchise. It directly follows the 2014 film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The film stars Andy Serkis, who’s reprising his role as Caesar, and Judy Greer alongside Harrelson.
War for the Planet of the Apes will be released on July 14.
