Dodgeball with guns and top-down retro mod coming to GTA Online

Gun-running mission on its way too

Rocket Voltic Races hit later this month

It’s been about three and a half years since Grand Theft Auto Online went live and developers at Rockstar Games regularly update it with new, sometimes unexpected, but always free content.

Last week, Rockstar announced that the next free title update, hitting sometime this month, will introduce a new type of stunt race designed specifically for the Rocket Voltic, Ruiner 2000 and Blazer Aqua vehicles.

Much more interesting though, is what Rockstar has planned for the game’s popular adversary modes. GTA Online’s adversary modes pit player against player in a variety of bizarre challenges created by the developer.

There are already 30 different challenges in the game, ranging from the territory penetrating gunplay of Cross the Line to Tron-inspired light bike races of Deadline.

Later this year, Rockstar promises, players will be taking on a raft of new challenges including Resurrection, which the team calls a “gallows humor take on dodgeball” and Top Down which is a “nostalgic homage to the 2D GTA era with some explosive twists.”

No word on timing, just yet.

The developers also said they will be bringing in a slew of new requested classic GTA vehicles including the Turismo Classic and the Infernus Classic, which first showed up in Grand Theft Auto 3’s Liberty City.

Finally, the developers announced that new weaponized vehicles and missions will be delivered this spring and summer where players will fight for supremacy in an illegal arms trade and wage war with the latest in high-powered military hardware.
