Fate of the Furious clip features an unlikely alliance, fist fights

The last Fate of the Furious clip will be released on Thursday, but a new teaser that has arrived ahead of time may give fans an idea of what to expect.

In the previous trailers, the focus has been on Dominic Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) unlikely alliance with Cipher, the franchise’s new villain. This time around, however, the focus is on Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) and Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson). The two were at each other’s throats in the last film, Furious 7, but based on the 45-second teaser below, they’ll be teaming up as well.

The fact that Shaw and Dobbs are being asked to team up and track down a rogue Toretto seems to suggest that Cipher (Charlize Theron) is one of the most formidable adversaries yet. It also raises an interesting question about Helen Mirren’s role in the film. Mirren will play Shaw’s mother, and at first the assumption was they would be another team of villains Toretto’s crew would have to take on. Now, however, with the new teaser, it appears that Shaw and Mirren’s character, who has yet to be named, will be on the good side.

Fate of the Furious’s full, final trailer will debut on Thursday. The movie will hit theaters on April 14.
