Marvel released the first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, the third film in the Thor franchise, today. It can be seen above.
Ragnarok, which is being directed by Taika Waititi, takes place after the events of the second Avengers movie, Age of Ultron. Thor is left imprisoned in another world without his trusty hammer, Mjolnir. While there, he must face his former teammate, the Hulk, and participate in intergalactic gladiatorial battles so he can escape and head back to his home of Asgard.
When Waititi spoke to Polygon about the movie last year, he said the script and theme was constantly changing. At the time, Waititi said there were elements of a buddy movie between Thor and the Hulk, but that could change by the time the final film hits screens in November 2017.
“There are buddy elements to it between Thor and the Hulk, but who knows what the final movie will look like,” Waititi said.
Thor: Ragnarok will see the return of Chris Hemsworth as the titular character, and Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk. Tom Hiddleston is back as Loki, and will be joined by Cate Blanchett, playing the evil Hela. Jeff Goldblum makes his Marvel Cinematic debut as Grandmaster, one of the Elders, and Benedict Cumberbatch will make an appearance as Doctor Strange.
Thor: Ragnarok will be released on Nov. 3.
