Koei Tecmo’s big crossover Warriors game comes stateside this summer

Musou, Ninja Gaiden, Nioh and more get mashed up in Warriors All-Stars

Koei Tecmo and Omega Force’s Dynasty Warriors-style game featuring characters from the publisher’s best known franchises, Warriors All-Stars, is coming stateside this August, the company announced today.

Warriors All-Stars will feature a variety of Koei Tecmo favorites, including Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden), Kasumi and Marie Rose (Dead or Alive), William Adams (Nioh), Yukimura Sanada (Samurai Warriors), Sophie Neuenmuller (Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book) and Zhao Yun (Dynasty Warriors). The Japanese release, Musou Stars, features 30 playable characters from 13 Koei Tecmo franchises.

Here’s the narrative setup that brings Koei Tecmo’s all-stars together:

Warriors All-Stars begins in a mysterious land brought to the brink of destruction when a magical spring, the source of its power, dries up after its king’s passing. Following a legend that calls for the summoning of champions from other realms in times of dire need, the young princess Tamaki performs a ritual that goes horribly wrong when her powers spiral out of control, scattering the heroes across the domain. Emboldened to restore peace to the world, Tamaki must recruit the best and strongest among these visitors to revitalize the spring – and crown the land’s savior as its new ruler.

Warriors All-Stars is headed to PlayStation 4 and Windows PC via Steam on Aug. 29.
