Director Rian Johnson used his time on stage during Star Wars Celebration’s The Last Jedi panel to show off some behind-the-scenes shots he took during filming.
Most of the photos, which can be seen in the gallery below, include the cast in-character, like Oscar Isaac (as Poe Dameron) sitting in the cockpit of an X-Wing. Some of the more touching photos, however, include scenes of General Leia Organa, played by the late Carrie Fisher, who can be seen joking around with her Star Wars family.
Many of the photos provide hints at what’s to come in The Last Jedi; we’re also expecting a full trailer by the end of the panel. Johnson said he took the photos because he was one of the only people involved who could take photos without worrying about getting “kicked in the face” by fans, since he’s not as popular as the cast.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released on Dec. 15, 2017.
