Mark Hamill debuts new Luke Skywalker photo in Last Jedi at Star Wars Celebration

Can we have some more, please?

Mark Hamill joined his Star Wars: The Last Jedi co-stars at Star Wars Celebration to talk about Luke Skywalker’s role in the upcoming film and show off a new look at the character in the movie.

The photo, which can be seen below, is one of the only new photos we’ve gotten of Luke ahead of the trailer, which is expected to be released at the end of the panel. Like he did in The Force Awakens, Luke looks disheveled, but the photo doesn’t give us any other hints about what to expect from Luke’s arc.

Hamill told host Josh Gad that the story isn’t just Luke’s anymore, but there is a lot of mystery about his character in the movie that fans will have to fill in with their own theories and imaginations.

“To a certain extent ... it's not Luke's story anymore ... there's a lot of mystery about him even within the film,” Hamill said. “I shared with Rian a lot of my own [ideas] ... to understand where Luke is at this point in his life.”

Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy assuaged fans’ fears that this may be another movie without a big Luke Skywalker presence, confirming that he “is so significantly important to this film.”

“You have no idea,” Kennedy hinted to the crowd gathered.

Just how big Hamill’s role in the movie will be has yet to be seen. Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released on Dec. 15.
