Summer Games Done Quick posted its schedule of events in the mid-year speedrunning companion to Awesome Games Done Quick. The marathon runs Sunday, July 2 to Sunday, July 9.
Notably, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is not on the main schedule, though it has been accepted as one of six "bonus games." It will get an unscheduled hour-long demonstration (the version to be played is on the Wii U).
Shortly after the game's launch on March 3, speedrunners figured out that the use of amiibo and DLC could deliver a sub-60 minute completion of Breath of the Wild. That mark has since been obliterated, with a no-amiibo, no-DLC run at 40:58 just two days ago, and a world record 40:57 run using amiibo (but not DLC) four days ago.
Orcastraw, who turned in the first completed speedrun of Breath of the Wild, and the third sub-one-hour run overall, will be playing it at Summer Games Done Quick.
There still are plenty of new games on the full schedule, beginning with Nier: Automata, which launched March 7 and is the newest game on the schedule. It is the first event following the customary pre-show. Runner Clint “Halfcoordinated” Lexa will make a two-hour attempt at ending A on normal difficulty. Lexa has a physical disability that limits the use of his right hand, so he’ll be playing Nier as he does all of his other runs — left-hand only.
Mirror's Edge Catalyst runs Monday, July 3 at 9:17 p.m. (right after its 2008 predecessor). Tuesday, July 4 offers the Games Done Quick debut of Dishonored 2 at 11:17 p.m., where Blood_Thunder will take a stab at an any-percent run of the game using either Emily or Corvo. That is followed by Doom (the 2016 game) making its second Summer Games Done Quick appearance, an all-secrets run to be finished in 1:27:00.
The last day, Saturday July 8, features a cluster of new games early in the day — Superhot at 8:16 a.m., Titanfall 2 at 8:43 a.m. and then Dark Souls 3 at 12:25 p.m. This is the Games Done Quick debut for Superhot and Titanfall 2, and the second appearance for Dark Souls 3. BubblesDelFuego made an any-percent run of it in 58:50 on the last day of Awesome Games Done Quick back in January.
Other highlights include a 100 percent attempt of Bionic Commando Rearmed in 50 minutes on July 6 at 3:58 p.m., and another 50-minute crack at Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast (any percent) on July 7 at 11:36 a.m.
