Blizzard Entertainment is making another appeal to Overwatch players — of which there are more than 25 million — to check out Heroes of the Storm, the company’s cross-franchise action strategy game. A new event, Nexus Challenge 2.0, will give Overwatch players an enticing new skin called Officer D.Va if they play some Heroes of the Storm with friends.
The Officer D.Va skin reimagines the young Overwatch pilot as a Korean cop, complete with a police cruiser-themed makeover for her mech. Overwatch players can also earn some icons and sprays based on Officer D.Va if they play enough Heroes of the Storm.
The Nexus Challenge 2.0 event also gives Overwatch players another chance to secure the Oni Genji skin, which was only available during the first Nexus Challenge in Heroes of the Storm back in November.
Heroes of the Storm’s Nexus Challenge 2.0 event runs four weeks, and players will need to play at least five games per week with a friend in quick match, ranked or unranked modes to secure some exclusive loot. Here’s what’s available during Nexus Challenge 2.0:
- Week 1 - Oni Genji skin, icon and spray in Overwatch; Oni Genji portrait, spray, Orochi Hovercycle mount and banner in Heroes of the Storm (Players can also earn these items in matches against the game’s AI.)
- Week 2 - Officer D.Va skin in Overwatch; Busan Police Hovercycle mount in Heroes of the Storm
- Week 3 - Officer D.Va icon and spray in Overwatch; Overwatch Nexagon mount and Officer D.Va portrait, spray and banner in Heroes of the Storm
- Week 4 - 10 loot boxes for both Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm
The Nexus Challenge 2.0 event is part of Blizzard’s larger push for Heroes of the Storm 2.0, a substantial overhaul for the MOBA that went live today. The 2.0 revision of the game coincides with the official release of a new Overwatch hero for the game, Genji.
Heroes of the Storm is available to download for free for Mac and Windows PC.
