Overwatch players who want to snag those coveted Oni Genji and Officer D.Va skins won’t have to play Blizzard’s action strategy game Heroes of the Storm if they can’t or simply don’t want to. Game director Jeff Kaplan says those skins will one day come to Overwatch as loot box rewards.
On the game’s official forums, Kaplan responded to an Overwatch fan who lamented that they found it “extremely frustrating” that certain skins require playing a separate PC game.
“We completely understand that there are some players who do not own or have access to a PC to play Heroes of the Storm,” Kaplan said. “Because of this, we plan to add both the Oni Genji skin and the Officer D.Va skin to the normal, base Overwatch loot box at some point in the future.
“With that said, I still encourage anyone with access to a PC to play the Nexus Challenge. Heroes of the Storm is an amazing game and you'll unlock those skins for free and before anyone else.”
Blizzard kicked off the Nexus Challenge 2.0 this week as part of the company’s relaunch of Heroes of the Storm. The four week-long event gives players an opportunity to unlock Overwatch-themed cosmetics in Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch if they play a certain number of games with friends.
