PlayStation Plus games for May include Abzu, Tales from the Borderlands

Head to Pandora and under the sea

PlayStation Plus subscribers will get two terrific PlayStation 4 games in May: Abzu and Tales from the Borderlands.

Giant Squid’s Abzu, which debuted in August 2016 on PS4 and Windows PC, is a gorgeous undersea adventure in which the player steps into the flippers of a diver and swims with a wide variety of marine life. Tales from the Borderlands is a hilarious episodic adventure game from Telltale Games that’s based on Gearbox Software’s Borderlands franchise, and it’s perhaps the most underrated title in Telltale’s library.

PS4 owners will also be able to get both of May’s PlayStation Vita games free, thanks to Sony’s cross-buy program. The titles in question are Out of Bounds Games’ Laser Disco Defenders, a bullet-hell shooter, and Ex Nihilo’s Type:Rider, a platformer that takes players through the history of typography.

On the PlayStation 3 side, players will get two games, as usual: Deck13 Interactive’s Blood Knights, a hack-and-slash action game, and Gaming Minds’ Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants, a simulation game.

The six games will become free for PlayStation Plus subscribers next Tuesday, May 2. In the meantime, the April games are still available.
