With the Wii U effectively dead — leading some developers to cancel games for that platform in favor of a Nintendo Switch release — owners of Nintendo’s now-last-gen console shouldn’t expect much in the way of new releases. But Wii U owners still have one remaster, Darksiders Warmastered Edition, coming their way.
Publisher THQ Nordic confirmed today that, yes, despite what you might have heard, the Wii U version of Darksiders Warmastered Edition will be here soon: May 23, to be specific. Darksiders Warmastered Edition will cost $19.99 when it’s released on Wii U next month.
Darksiders Warmastered Edition was released in November 2016 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, but obviously the Wii U version has lagged far behind. The remaster follows a similar re-release of the game’s sequel, published as Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition. The sequel’s remaster never made its way to Wii U.
Darksiders Warmastered Edition promises “hellish HD resolution and performance improvements” for the third-person action-adventure game. Here’s the game’s Wii U box art for further proof of its existence:
