Two music video game veterans, NanaOn-Sha’s Masaya Matsuura and iNiS’ Keiichi Yano, are teaming up for a new story-driven rhythm action adventure game currently titled Project Rap Rabbit.
Matsuura is best known for his work on PlayStation music games PaRappa the Rapper and Vib-Ribbon. Yano’s work includes Gitaroo Man, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan and Elite Beat Agents. Both have a long history of developing a wide variety of music games that also includes titles like the Lips karaoke game series for Xbox and Major Minor’s Majestic March, an unusual band marching game for Wii.
The duo’s new project is still shrouded in mystery. All that exists for Project Rap Rabbit currently is a teaser video featuring some of the game’s characters — a (presumably rapping) rabbit and a giant frog — in what appears to be a historical Japanese setting, save for the one-wheeled motorcycle, quadcopter drones and flying saucer.
The game’s website and social media accounts promise more information on Project Rap Rabbit is “coming very soon.”
