Sonic Mania’s latest trailer puts Knuckles back in Flying Battery Zone

At least it’s not Green Hill Zone again

The latest trailer for Sonic Mania goes back to Flying Battery Zone, this time with a closer look at Knuckles negotiating his way through a remixed edition of Dr. Eggman's giant airship.

The last look at the throwback 2D platformer also visited Flying Battery Zone, which appeared previously in Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. That video was a 30-second teaser, the same day Sega announced the delay of Sonic Mania to a Summer launch window.

Sonic Mania is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. No specific date has been given for its launch. Longtime fan developer Christian Whitehead is on the project for Sega, collaborating with Headcannon and PagodaWest Games to develop and publish it.

Another Sonic game is coming later in the year; that one, Sonic Forces, is a blend of the more modern 3D Sonic the Hedgehog games and his 2D origins, somewhat like 2011's Sonic Generations.
