Rick and Morty have found ways to make Rick’s drug and alcohol dependency work as a form of comedy for years, but this may be the first time they made use of it.
In a new short promo for Alien: Covenant, Ridley Scott’s most recent addition in the Alien franchise, Rick and Morty are on their own space journey when they come across the Covenant, an exploration ship that has touched down on an “unknown” planet. Morty forces Rick to pull over so they can help the stranded crew members, but upon landing, come face-to-face with a facehugger.
The terrifying creature, which made its first appearance in Scott’s Alien, is an acidic, venomous beast, but has no chance of survival when matched with the high volume of toxic chemicals swimming through Rick’s body.
Although the promo features Rick and Morty, it is without question an advertisement for Alien: Covenant. As such, there isn’t anymore information about when the third season will return. Co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland released the season premiere a last month as a surprise April Fool’s Day joke for fans, confirming the show would return this summer, but gave no specific date.
Alien: Covenant will be released in theaters May 19.
