Red Dead Redemption - John Marston aiming revolver Rockstar San Diego/Rockstar Games

A huge backward compatibility-themed sale is underway, offering steep discounts on some big name games from the Xbox 360 era, playable on Xbox One.

The sale is good through May 22, and includes savings from 50 to 75 percent off of everything in the Gears of War franchise; Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2; Red Dead Redemption; Call of Duty: Black Ops, Black Ops 2 and World at War; Borderlands and Borderlands 2; BioShock and BioShock 2; Grand Theft Auto 4, Bully: Scholarship Edition and of course, Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days.

This means prices ranging from $5 to $12 for some of these golden oldies. There's a big catch, though; the discounts are offered only to Xbox Live Gold members.

The full listing can be seen here.

This is in addition to the regular Deals With Gold sale going on for Xbox One, which delivers Destiny: The Taken King for 40 percent off and Mirror's Edge Catalyst for 67 percent off. Both of those deals are Xbox Live Gold-only, too.
