Destiny 2 is getting in-game clan support, ‘guided games’ feature

No more dealing with a web browser

Destiny 2 will have clans, Bungie announced during its gameplay reveal stream. Unlike the previous game, Destiny 2 will include more robust clan support within the game.

Players can join a clan without having to request to do so through the Bungie.net web browser. In Destiny 2, the clans feature will also offer “in-game rosters, tools you need to build your fire teams, and custom banners to help you shape your shared identities,” according to social lead M.E. Chung. There will also be progression and rewards available.

Also part of the new clans feature will be “guided games,” Destiny 2’s version of matchmaking. This allows solo players to find a group with which they can play — for example, if a group of five needs one more, they can go into this feature and find a sixth teammate.

“You can open up your party to new players who are looking to play with you,” said social lead M.E. Chung about the new feature.

Both features work in tandem to create a stronger sense of community, as the development team explained during the live event, making new friends and further bonding with existing clanmates.

Destiny 2 will launch Sept. 8.
