Weapons trafficking is coming to Grand Theft Auto Online in its next update, Gunrunning, publisher Rockstar Games announced today.
Gunrunning, which is scheduled for release in June for Grand Theft Auto 5, will focus on the illegal arms trafficking industry that has taken root in the southern part of San Andreas. You’ll have the option to buy bases beneath the ground in Blaine County via the in-game Maze Bank foreclosures website. At those subterranean headquarters, which are denoted on the surface by hatches, you’ll be able to set up shop and produce military vehicles and manufacture weapons. These massive bunkers will also feature gun ranges for target practice.
The Gunrunning update will introduce elements like weaponized vehicles, allowing you to retrofit cars with armored panels and front grilles as well as roof-mounted guns. New transportation options include an armored personnel carrier (APC), which GTA fans may recognize from Grand Theft Auto 4’s Ballad of Gay Tony add-on. The APC is even amphibious, as you can see in the screenshot above. Another new feature coming in Gunrunning is the Mobile Operation Center, which will allow for on-the-go vehicle customization (including the aforementioned weapon upgrades).
