Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk is only a couple of months away from being released, and the final trailer ahead of the film’s premiere is finally here.
Warner Bros. has been counting down to the trailer for the past week, including references to the number of men who lost their lives during the battle of Dunkirk, one of the largest evacuations that occurred during the second world war. More than 300,000 people were evacuated between the period of May 26 and June 4, 1940.
Nolan announced that he was stepping away from the sci-fi genre to take on the project back in September 2015. Since then, Warner Bros. has slowly been releasing clips from the movie, attaching them to new movies being released in IMAX. Like many of Nolan’s other films, including Interstellar, Dunkirk will be released in both 35mm and 70mm formats. When Nolan released Interstellar in 2014, there was some controversy among theater owners who complained that having to carry the film on old projectors for a short run was expensive and impractical.
Dunkirk, which stars One Direction’s Harry Styles, Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy, will be released on July 21.
