In case you needed a reminder that speedrunning is an art form, there’s this: After just three days in stores, Prey has been beaten in less than 20 minutes.
Twitch streamer DraQu posted the new world record time for the haunting sci-fi adventure game earlier today, an archive of which is up top. The whole thing lasts 19 minutes, 34 seconds, a time made more unfathomable when you consider this:
That’s DraQu’s stream from yesterday afternoon, where he ran through the game in 44 minutes. In the span of 20 hours, he cut his time down by more than half.
Prey’s open, expansive world makes it a curious choice for speedrunning. To breeze through the game in so little time, DraQu used some out-of-bounds tricks. Venturing into parts of the world which aren’t meant to be explored helped get him to the finish line in less than the time it takes to watch a sitcom episode.
At the rate he’s going, DraQu could be finishing the game in 10 minutes by tomorrow. If you want to spend some quality time with Prey, it’s out now on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
