The sequel to Godzilla is finally in production and, according to a press release sent out today, the King of the Monsters will be joined by three of the most well-known and beloved beasts.

The followup to 2014’s Godzilla, which was directed by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s Gareth Edwards, will focus primarily on the crypto-zoological agency, Monarch, as its staff faces off against a number of monsters. Godzilla will be joined by Mothra, Rodan and his number one foe, King Ghidorah. Ghidorah, who first appeared in the 1964 film Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, is a three-headed dragon. The last time Ghidorah appeared in a film was in the 2001 Japanese sci-fi Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack.

When Godzilla, Ghidorah, Mothra and Rodan awaken, they begin an all-out war for domination over Earth. It’s up to the team at Monarch to discover how to destroy the monsters before they’re completely wiped out.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will star Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga and Stranger Things’ Millie Bobbie Brown as the main family in the film. They’ll be joined by O’Shea Jackson Jr., Thomas Middleditch, Zhang Ziyi, Bradley Whitford, Charles Dance, and Aisha Hinds. Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins will reprise their roles from the first film.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be released on March 22, 2019. It is the third installment in Warner Bros. and Legendary’s Godzilla monster universe, following this year’s Kong: Skull Island.
