If Super Mario Odyssey looks so cool you can't wait until Oct. 27 to play it, a modder has already put the game's signature feature into Super Mario 64, a 21-year-old game.
In the video above, modder Kaze Emanuar shows his work over the past two weeks, getting up a first draft of it only days after Super Mario Odyssey was revealed to the public at E3 2017.
Mario "possesses," (which, Nintendo points out, is not really what the hat does, but whatever) both inanimate objects and creatures, who even don his hat. From there, he zooms all over the map.
As with any user-created content, this is a mod that people should be cautious about using. It also requires an emulator to install it. The instructions on how to do that, if you care to, can be found in the video's about box on YouTube.
Super Mario Odyssey launches Oct. 27 on Nintendo Switch. It will have a lot more to it than the poss— er "capturing" ability, including two-player local co-op.
