Update: Nintendo, The Pokémon Company and Game Freak had three major announcement’s during today’s Nintendo Direct:
- Pokkén Tournament DX is coming to Nintendo Switch
- Game Boy titles Pokémon Gold and Silver are coming to Nintendo 3DS
- Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are coming to Nintendo 3DS
Original story: Today’s Nintendo Direct begins at 10 a.m. ET, and will last only eight minutes. The only thing we know for sure is that we’ll be getting some Pokémon news. The rest should be a surprise.
Fans are hoping that Pokémon Stars will be made official, although we’re hopeful that Pokémon Snap is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch. One of those pieces of speculation has a chance in hell of happening; the other concerns Pokémon Snap.
This is a short Nintendo Direct that may announce some big news, and that’s an interesting move on Nintendo’s part as the company gets ready E3. On the other hand, Nintendo only had one game at E3 last year — and that seemed to go well — so it can be argued that we’re dealing with a company that has the luxury of making up the rules as it goes along. On the other, other hand ... Nintendo doesn’t announce Pokémon games at E3 in general, so this isn’t that surprising.
Whatever the game ends up being, this should be an exciting presentation. Let’s watch together!
