TumbleSeed devs are making the game easier as quickly as possible

Greg Wohlwend, part of the small team of developers that created TumbleSeed, says the game is too hard and that he’s working to fix it. In a series of tweets yesterday he admitted “that’s our fault, at least in part, and we are trying to find out if there’s anything we can do to fix it.”

TumbleSeed is a puzzle game based off a quirky, vintage stand-up arcade machine called Ice Cold Beer. The game itself is likewise quirky, and involves using a kind of balance beam to roll your character back and forth across the screen. The game was described as a “flagship title” for the Nintendo Switch, and is also available on Mac, Windows PC and PlayStation 4.

Trouble is, it’s super duper frustrating, something we called out in our review.

“We know how the current version of the game comes off when played in a review setting,” Wohlwend wrote. “Most likely you'll play it, decide it's too difficult, and be done with the game. We're working on fixing that. So before we solicit more reviews, we'd like to try these ideas out first. Our changes probably won't ‘save the game’, but we hope to give anyone that wanders into our game a fighting chance at enjoying it.”

Wohlwend is an old hand when it comes to making successful indie games. He’s been played a role in smash hits like Threes and Ridiculous Fishing. But this game, he said, is particularly close to his heart.
