Astro Gaming, makers of the highly-regarded A-series audio headsets and Mixamp console peripherals, are being acquired by Logitech. The brand will fall underneath their Logitech G brand of gaming peripherals.

“[Astro} is a perfect complement to Logitech G's focus on PC gaming and we couldn't be more excited,” said Jordan Reiss, co-founder and president of Astro. “Together, we want to make game play even more fun for gamers everywhere. The whole team at Astro has always held Logitech and Logitech G products in the highest regard, so I’m ecstatic we are joining forces.”

Astro Gaming has has a wild couple of years.

It was purchased by headset manufacturer Skullcandy in April 2011, before that company’s stock price tanked. Low retail sales were cited as the main reason it missed an earnings estimate in 2013, causing its stock to drop 20 percent in a single day. In 2016, Skullcandy was in talks to be acquired by top-rated mobile phone case manufacturer Incipio, but that deal fell through. Instead, it merged with private equity firm Mill Road Capital.

Logitech confirmed to Polygon that it purchased Astro from its parent company, Skullcandy, for $85 million in cash, a deal that is expected to be completed in August. Mill Road will retain ownership of Skullcandy.

The purchase comes on the heels of Logitech’s acquisition of British joystick manufacturer Saitek just last year. Logitech swooped in to purchase the company after previous owner, Mad Catz, fell on hard times. It ceased operation in March following a lengthy death spiral that followed the lower than expected sales of Rock Band 4, which it co-published with Harmonix.

Update: After publication, Logitech’s public relations teams reached out with corrected information. Astro was purchased from Skullcandy, not from Mill Road. We’ve adjusted the original story above.
