Battlefront 2’s latest trailer goes behind the scenes with its supporting characters

Iden Versio has friends and a father, and they have stories too

Star Wars Battlefront 2 led D23’s video game showcase this afternoon, with a four-minute behind the scenes look at the making of the game, the story going into it and the rationales for telling it from the viewpoint of an Imperial officer, Iden Versio.

It’s already been established that Versio is the commander of a Inferno Squadron, an elite unit that is present on Endor when the second Death Star goes kaboom in the events of Return of the Jedi. This is the starting point for the game’s single-player story campaign, which its 2015 predecessor lacked.

But we also meet Versio’s academy classmate, Gideon Hask, and learn a little more about what informs his zealotry and Imperial commitment. Del appears to be the good cop to Hask’s bad, providing a lighter touch in his interactions with Versio, the player character. And given Versio’s military pedigree, there’s much more to discover about her father, Admiral Garrick Versio.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 launches Nov. 17 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, about a month before the premiere of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. A multiplayer beta for the game was announced this week; that will be run Oct. 6-9 on all platforms for all users, with a two-day preview for EA Access subscribers beginning Oct. 4.
