Insomniac Games took to the stage at this year’s D23 conference to unveil another look at its Spider-Man project, which is in development for PlayStation 4.
The game is the developer’s first stab at the superhero property. Insomniac is collaborating with Marvel Entertainment for an authentic take on the character — although don’t expect it to draw inspiration from Spidey’s latest feature film appearance, in this year’s Spider-Man Homecoming.
Instead, this take on Spider-Man is derived from the comics. But it’s also a “new and fresh twist on who he is,” according to the behind-the-scenes featurette.
Players will run around New York City, swinging from building to building and protecting the good people of the Big Apple. They’ll also get to go inside Peter Parker’s apartment and take on villains like Wilson Fisk, otherwise known as Kingpin. Expect even more familiar faces, good and evil, to appear during the Spider-Man game. That even includes Miles Morales, a more recent incarnation of the famed superhero.
A 2018 release date is expected for the action-adventure title. We last saw it at E3 2017; take a look at that gameplay trailer below.
