Update (1:40 p.m. ET): Seems like this was just a hitch at the start. Multiple Polygon staffers have now been able to log in to the Destiny 2 beta. Jump in, Guardians!
Original story: The Destiny 2 beta went live for PlayStation 4 pre-order customers at 1 p.m. ET today, but surprise, surprise: They’re having trouble getting in.
With the apparent flood of users trying to defend The Last City from a Cabal invasion, Bungie’s servers seem to be overwhelmed. Here’s the error message that the Destiny 2 beta gave us when we tried to log in:

Bungie released a patch for the beta earlier, updating the client to version 1.02. But it’s typical for the studio to issue tiny files that Destiny players need to download during launches like this. We’re still trying to get in, and we’ll update this article to let you know when the situation is resolved. In the meantime, maybe you’re lucky enough to keep yourself busy with a gamer survival kit that your significant other made for you.
The Destiny 2 beta will go live tomorrow at 1 p.m. ET on Xbox One, and at the same time on Friday, July 21, for all PS4 and Xbox One owners. For more information, check out our full post on the beta.
