Here’s your first look at Kylo Ren’s latest upgrade in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Well, that’s nifty

The dawn of a new Star Wars movie means never-before-seen weapons, vehicles and characters for keen eyes to watch for.

[Warning: The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.]

Kylo Ren, commander for the First Order, just so happens to be receiving his own bit of swanky new equipment: an upgraded fighter to pilot to help tracking down those pesky Resistance fighters like Poe Dameron.

In the latest episode of The Star Wars Show, a daily series produced by Lucasfilm, Kylo Ren’s new TIE-Fighter was revealed. Called the TIE Silencer — or, Sienar Jamus TIE/VN Space Superiority Fighter, for those who want to impress their friends — the craft features laser cannons and a missile launcher. As pointed out in the video, it also looks like an edgier version of the TIE Interceptor, which can be seen below.

The TIE Silencer will act as Kylo Ren’s new personal aircraft in The Last Jedi, and, quite frankly, seems far more beneficial to his overall mission than the command shuttle ever did. According to a description on the official Star Wars website, there is “no other First Order craft like the TIE Silencer.”

It also bears more of a resemblance to the TIE Advanced fighter that was piloted by Darth Vader in Star Wars: A New Hope. That tiny homage shouldn’t be too surprising considering just how much Kylo Ren wanted to be like his grandfather in The Force Awakens.

Although the TIE Silencer is the coolest new vehicle to be introduced thus far, it isn’t the only one. Lucasfilm has also revealed new Walkers for the First Order since first announcing The Last Jedi.

All of these vehicles and weapons can be seen in full when The Last Jedi debuts later this year on Dec. 15.
