Netflix is getting ready to enter the world of blockbuster films with Bright, its fantasy movie that stars Will Smith and is directed by David Ayer.
During its panel at San Diego Comic-Con today, Netflix showed the first full-length trailer for Bright. Smith, co-star Noomi Rapace, writer Max Landis and director David Ayer were on stage at Comic-Con to talk about the movie and debut the three-minute trailer. The video isn’t explicitly marked as a red-band trailer, since Netflix doesn’t use MPAA ratings, but it gets pretty violent toward the end — Bright would certainly be an R-rated film if it were coming to theaters.
Bright takes place in a world where humans live alongside mythical creatures, including orcs and elves. When a human Los Angeles Police Department cop (Smith) learns about the existence of a powerful weapon that everyone would kill for — a magic wand that is “like a nuclear weapon that grants wishes” — he teams up with his partner (Joel Edgerton) to find it before someone else does.
Bright — which has a budget of $90 million — will premiere Dec. 22, 2017, exclusively on Netflix.
