Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite’s roster is expanding with four new fighters, Capcom announced today during the Marvel Games panel at Comic-Con International.
Capcom showed a new trailer for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, introducing one major Marvel hero — Spider-Man — and three Capcom characters: Frank West (Dead Rising), Mike Haggar (Final Fight) and Nemesis (Resident Evil). None of them are new to the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise; in fact, all four appeared in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
As you can see in the trailer, Spider-Man has a new super move in which he dodges pumpkin bombs (presumably thrown by the Green Goblin) and hurls them at his opponent. Fights in the trailer take place on a new stage that looks like M.O.D.O.K.’s lair — the super-intelligent head-in-a-chair sits in the background, surveying the action — which suggests that he won’t be a playable character in Infinite. As for Frank West, the zombie-killing photojournalist appears in the trailer as his 30-something self, not the middle-aged version from 2016’s Dead Rising 4.
Gamora, one of the Guardians of the Galaxy, was announced as a playable character at E3 2017, and she is featured heavily in the trailer. The video also shows off the next Infinity Stone: the Mind Stone, which is yellow.
San Diego Comic-Con attendees will be able to play all four of today’s newly announced Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite characters starting tomorrow. The game is set for release Sept. 19 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
