[Warning: While this is an HBO-approved teaser, it sets a lot up for the seventh season of Game of Thrones. Spoilers ahead.]
It seems some of Westeros’ rising stars finally know of each other’s existence.
In a new “Weeks Ahead” teaser for the seventh season of Game of Thrones, first shown during the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel today, we hear Jon Snow mention Daenerys Targaryen for the first time. The newly crowned King of the North knows he’s going to need Dany’s aid in keeping the White Walkers at bay. (Especially after last week’s revelation that her new headquarters is home to most of the dragonglass in the Seven Kingdoms.)
We also see Daenerys receiving an unexpected guest: the Red Priestess Melisandre. While it’s not clear what Melisandre is offering, we do hear her say, “I believe you have a role to play, as does another.” Is that other Jon Snow?
We also see that Queen Cersei has decided Daenerys is the most dangerous threat to her power, and is readying her remaining Lannister armies against the Mother of Dragons. And what is Littlefinger saying to Sansa Stark? It seems she hasn’t broken fully free of his clutches.
The SDCC panel was light on any other details about season seven, with the cast staying very far away from any potential spoilers. There are six more episodes in this season of Game of Thrones, which airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
