Although Warner Bros. just released a trailer for its upcoming sequel to Blade Runner, Blade Runner 2049, those in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con were treated with more footage.
In the scene, Ryan Gosling’s Officer K heads to Wallace Corp to view damaged replicant memories. This all takes place during a time when replicants have been prohibited. He sees the initial Deckard interrogation from the first film. It seems to be Rachael, the replicant from the first movie that Deckard escaped LA with.
“It was unclear what she was,” a replicant who is accompanying Office K through the scene explains. “We were difficult to spot then.”
Is this the thing that sets Officer K on his mission to find Deckard? We know that he tracks the older, retired LAPD officer down and the two will team up together, but we don’t know what leads Officer K to Deckard in the first place.
Blade Runner 2049 will be released on Oct. 6.
