Capcom followed up its splash announcements at Evo 2017 last week with a big showing at San Diego Comic-Con, which included this tidbit: Shin Akuma is unlockable and playable in Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers on Nintendo Switch.
As noticed by GameSpot on Friday, Capcom's 30th Anniversary Street Fighter panel revealed how to play in Akuma's demon form. The steps are:
- Select Ryu, select Color 1 and press cancel.
- Select Ken, select Color 9 and press cancel.
- Select Sagat, select Color 8 and press cancel.
- Select M. Bison, select Color 7 and press cancel.
- Put the cursor over the Random button and then press L&R at the same time.
Kotaku notes that Shin Akuma doesn't remain unlocked, so users will have to follow those steps every time they want to play as him.
Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers launched on Nintendo Switch back in May; Polygon's review has more on it. We weren't sold on what it delivers, calling it not "a deadly serious fighting game, but a party game, a piece of nostalgia," though it is still a "better-than-arcade port" of the original.
On an unrelated note, Street Fighter 5 will get three new costumes on July 25, bringing a dose of athleisure wear to the fighting game.
Ibuki will be dressed for volleyball, and Laura and Rashid are outfitted for soccer, with Laura in a design inspired by the Brazilian national teams. The costume pack will cost $3.99.
