Ron Howard narrating Star Wars Arrested Development is amazing

Hats off to the superfans at Nerdist

Just a little over a month ago word broke that Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard would be taking over as director on Disney’s stand-alone Han Solo movie. The Arrested Development jokes started flying almost immediately. It took them a month, but the team at Nerdist has finally created a proper mashup, with Howard as the narrator of the Skywalker family’s intergalactic escapades.

It’s perfect.

Clearly a lot of hard work went into this video. The clips selected from the movies do a great job of pointing out the oddness that sits at the root of the franchise. The tortured father, the weirdly incestuous make-out sessions, the severed limbs and the ugly crying? It’s all there, placed perfectly next to Howard’s wonderful deadpan.

The as-yet-untitled Han Solo movie is still in production, with Howard at the helm in place of directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller who departed the project in June. Over the past few weeks he’s been torturing us all on Twitter with fleeting glimpses of Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. The film is expected to release on May 25, 2018.
