Pokémon Go’s next two legendaries will be available for a limited time

You’ve got a busy few weeks ahead

The next two legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go are Moltres and Zapdos, but players won’t have long to catch them. Each of the three legendary birds — including Articuno, who’s available now — will only be up for grabs for a brief window, Niantic revealed.

Players can catch Articuno now through next Monday, July 31. It will be replaced by Moltres, who will be free for the taking until the following Monday, Aug. 7. The last of the three birds, Zapdos, arrives Aug. 7 and will be in the game until one week later, on Aug. 14.

That confirms reports that each of these legendaries would only be found in Pokémon Go for a short period of time. Lugia, the first special Pokémon to be unlocked, will continue to appear during legendary Raid Battles, but the other three will be much rarer.

The news comes from a blog post which addresses the controversy surrounding Saturday’s Pokémon Go Fest, which will be best remembered as a disappointment to fans and Niantic alike. (“Disappointment” may be putting it lightly, in fact.) While these legendaries aren’t quite compensation, it helps that Niantic is peppering the game with them just after how poorly the event went.
