Three post-launch downloadable content packs are on the way for Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, and you’ll play as someone other than series protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz in each one, publisher Bethesda Softworks announced today.
All three add-ons will be included in Wolfenstein 2’s season pass, which is known as The Freedom Chronicles and will cost $24.99 in the U.S., £17.99 in the U.K. and AU$34.95 in Australia. They are called The Adventures of Gunslinger Joe, The Diaries of Agent Silent Death and The Amazing Deeds of Captain Wilkins. Each one sounds like its own side story featuring the character in question, as opposed to an add-on that lets you play through the main Wolfenstein 2 campaign as someone besides Blazkowicz. Check out the synopses below from Bethesda:
- The Adventures of Gunslinger Joe: As former professional quarterback Joseph Stallion, smash through Nazi hordes from the ruins of Chicago to the vastness of space!
- The Diaries of Agent Silent Death: As ex-OSS agent and assassin Jessica Valiant, infiltrate Nazi bunkers in California and discover the secrets of Operation San Andreas!
- The Amazing Deeds of Captain Wilkins: As the US Army’s renowned hero Captain Gerald Wilkins, embark on a mission to Nazi-controlled Alaska to dismantle Operation Black Sun!
Stallion, Valiant and Capt. Wilkins are all freedom fighters in their own right, trying to take America back from Nazi control along with Blazkowicz. (We must note here that “Joseph Stallion” is a pretty good riff on Joseph Stalin. It sounds like this guy wants to purge Nazis from the United States!)
There’s no word on whether these DLC characters show up in Wolfenstein 2’s campaign; Bethesda said it will provide further details later. The publisher also did not give any release windows for the add-ons. A representative for Bethesda confirmed to Polygon that the three DLC packs will be sold separately, but said that the company isn’t announcing stand-alone pricing yet.
The three characters will also appear in a prequel mission, “Episode Zero.” The mission will be available free, but only to people who pre-order Wolfenstein 2 or buy its season pass.
