What’s included in Destiny 2’s beta

You’ve probably seen most of the beta’s content already

Destiny 2’s beta test kicks off in less than two weeks, giving Guardians a small taste of what’s to come when the full game launches in September. Today, Bungie confirmed what content will be available during the Destiny 2 beta, and if you’ve been following the game closely, you’re probably already familiar with it.

Included in the beta will be Destiny 2’s opening campaign mission, Homecoming; the cooperative three-player strike The Inverted Spire; and two competitive multiplayer modes, Countdown and Control. Players will be able to experiment with three of Destiny 2’s character subclasses: Dawnblade Warlock, Arcstrider Hunter or Sentinel Titan.

In a post on Bungie’s website, the developer said that Countdown and Control will be playable on new maps built with those gameplay modes in mind. Control will return “with some impactful changes,” Bungie said.

Players will also get brief access to Destiny 2’s new social space, The Farm, during the beta. It will be accessible for just one hour starting at 10 a.m. PT on Sunday, July 23. “Most vendors and services will be offline,” Bungie said. “Our goals are to see how many of you it can accommodate at once.”

Character progression during the beta won’t carry over to the full game, Bungie noted. Players who take part in the beta, however, will get a special beta banner when Destiny 2 arrives in September.

Destiny 2’s beta kicks off July 18 on PlayStation 4 for those who pre-order. Xbox One owners who pre-order will get access to the beta on July 19. The open beta kicks off on consoles July 21, and the whole thing comes to an end on July 23. The Windows PC beta begins in August.

Destiny 2 launches on PS4 and Xbox One on Sept. 6. The PC version drops Oct. 24.
