Breath of the Wild’s next DLC gives us a look inside Zelda’s world

Link remains the star of the show

Series producer Eiji Aonuma showed off a new look at The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wilds next pack of downloadable content, “The Champions’ Ballad,” this week. While players will still be cruising around the world as Link, they can expect to learn much more about Zelda along the way.

The brief development footage from France’s ongoing Japan Expo is a compilation of cutscenes from Zelda’s storyline; watch that below. Breath of the Wild already gave the Princess of Hyrule a greatly expanded role, but these scenes continue to teach players what it was like for her to head up the Champions of Hyrule.

Expect the DLC to pay a lot of attention on the Champions — Urbosa, Mipha, Daruk and Revali — with Link chief among them. Nintendo hasn’t given a release date for the second piece of the game’s season pass, although it’s expected sometime this holiday season. There will also be amiibo based on the four other Champions released alongside the DLC.

One other fun thing: Link’s iconic lobster shirt, from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, will be one of the outfits included in the DLC pack too.

Breath of the Wild’s first DLC pack, “The Master Trials,” launched last week. The full expansion pack, which gives access to both DLC packs, costs $19.99.
