While spectacular, 64-player battles are a hallmark of the Battlefield franchise, a new mode for Battlefield 1 will focus on war at a much smaller scale. That new mode, Incursions, will introduce 5v5 battles to Battlefield 1 starting in September and is “optimized for competition,” EA said.
Electronic Arts and DICE announced Battlefield 1 Incursions at Gamescom 2017 today. The mode will be a competitive, team-based battle featuring infantry and vehicles. Players will be able to choose from one of eight character kits (Trench Surgeon, Control Leader, AT Assault, Battle Mechanic, Mortar Support, Raid Leader, Shock Assault, Proximity Recon) in Incursions mode.
A closed alpha test for Battlefield 1 Incursions will go live in September. EA said that players can sign up to take part in the closed alpha on the official Battlefield website.
Incursions’ alpha will be played on a modified version of Battlefield 1’s Giant’s Shadow map. Players will “rank up to gain access to improved weapons and abilities based on a combination of time and performance.”
EA also announced Battlefield 1 Revolution, which it called “the complete Battlefield 1 experience.” The package will collect the base game and its four expansions: They Shall Not Pass, In the Name of the Tsar, Turning Tides and Apocalypse.
Battlefield 1 Revolution is available now on PlayStation 4, Windows PC via Origin and Xbox One. Here’s a look at what’s included:
