During Gamescom 2017, Blizzard Entertainment revealed a brand new short to expand the world of Hearthstone, its digital collectible card game based on World of Warcraft. While most of the game’s playable characters and cards are based on people, places and things from World of Warcraft, Hearthstone itself doesn’t have many original characters in its canon. The animated short introduces us to a host of new faces in the Hearthstone universe.
In the animated short, we meet Ava, a young girl who stumbles upon a Hearthstone tavern. Once inside, she’s treated to a song and dance routine that introduces her to magical world of Hearthstone.
While Harth Stonebrew, Hearthstone’s innkeeper and in-game announcer, is one of the few characters created for the game, Blizzard revealed several new faces who appear to be original creations.
While on stage at Gamescom, Blizzard announced that Ava’s introduction and inclusion in Hearthstone will be the start of a series of new story-based content created for the game’s world. While there are no firm plans yet, Blizzard mentioned that we will be seeing Ava and her friends in future shorts, comics and more.
