Pokémon Go’s upcoming Exclusive Raid Battle system is on its way to the game. Niantic announced this morning that a revamped version of the new feature, EX Raid Battles, will enter field testing soon.
EX Raid Battles will work similarly to the current cooperative multiplayer mechanic, according to the developer. These were previously announced as Exclusive Raid Battles, which Niantic said would include limited-time, special Pokémon, including Mewtwo.
Niantic will send out invites to players in “select areas” who have successfully participated in a Raid Battle to try out the new system. Those who are asked to help field test the system will receive a special EX Raid Pass, which will grant them access to the new feature. They’ll also have a chance to provide feedback to the developer.
“During the field test, we’ll be making periodic adjustments to EX Raid eligibility requirements, frequency, times, locations, and durations with the goal of making the EX Raid Battle feature engaging, rewarding, and most importantly, fun for Trainers who regularly participate in Raid Battles,” the Pokémon Go team wrote on its blog.
Expect EX Raid Passes to start showing up in experienced players’ bags around Sept. 6.
