Now that Destiny 2’s factions are live, players should have all the information they need to choose the faction they’ll pledge allegiance too.
Just like in the original Destiny, three factions are vying for followers in the Tower.
- Dead Orbit are believers in the doomed fate of Earth and who look to the stars for salvation.
- Future War Cult followers believe that securing a safe future is in preparing for war ... forever.
- New Monarchy devotees are on a mission to unite and rebuild the splendor of our home planet, Earth.
In exchange for doing various Destiny-related activities, like running Public Events, competing in the Crucible and running raids, each faction will offer you faction-specific gear. Not only does this allow you to adorn yourself in the respective colors of each group, your gear will also feature the specific look and feel of each faction. You’re going to have to make a tough decision here.
Each faction will also offer an exclusive gun for sale — if their faction is the most successful by 2 a.m. PT on Oct. 3. By completing activities on behalf of the faction you’ve pledged to, each faction will “gain resources” that will be tallied up. The winning faction will unlock their gun and offer it to their devotees for 1,000 glimmer. For everyone else, it’ll be available for a whopping 50,000 glimmer.
The unique Destiny 2 faction weapons are different enough that it will make choosing a faction all the more difficult. Dead Orbit followers could get their hands on a scout rifle with improved aim when standing still. Future War Cult is offering up a pulse rifle that causes explosions on headshots and the followers of New Monarchy might be able to get their exclusive sidearm with a fast draw and improved range.
So now that factions are live, we need to settle something once and for all. Which is the best Destiny 2 faction: Dead Orbit, Future War Cult or New Monarchy?
