The first day of group stages at the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive ELeague Major: Boston has come and gone and the results were anything but expected as four favorites went down against lower ranked opponents.
With upsets abounding in day one, day two features an unexpected set of matches that should make up one of the most exciting group stage days in recent memory.
Day two starts on Jan. 20 at 10:00 a.m. EST, and every match will be broadcast live on the ELeague Twitch channel.
Why you should watch
Day two is when each team’s mettle is really tested. Here, the teams with surprising victories, like Vega Squadron, have the chance to prove they are real contenders against one of the best teams in the world, FaZe Clan. Meanwhile, teams like Astralis, who were handed an embarrassing defeat on day one will have a shot at redemption facing similarly disappointing favorites, North.
Also among the day two matches are two teams with a lot to prove. In both G2 Esports vs Team Liquid and Virtus.pro vs Fnatic, the teams involved have suffered long streaks of disappointing results and need these matches to kick off 2018 with a strong performance.
All of the day’s matches offer something to get excited about, but SK Gaming vs. Mousesports has the most potential for a stunning result. Both teams have looked strong at the Boston Major so far and a win for Mousesports here could elevate them from a great team to one of the world’s true elites.
