PlayStation will launch its own line of figurines based on characters and franchises familiar or exclusive to the console.
Made by ThinkGeek (a GameStop company), the line launches with seven figurines, each about 10 centimeters (four inches) high. It’s called the Totaku Collection, and it comprises Bloodborne’s hunter, Crash Bandicoot, Parappa the Rapper, Kratos from God of War, the Feisar FX350 racing ship from Wipeout, Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet, and Heihachi from the Tekken series.
All figurines are $9.99.
Before you go thinking PlayStation has copied Nintendo’s amiibo, that does not appear to be the case. None of the figurines’ descriptions describe any near-field communication functionality or other interactivity. The figurines are fixed to their stand and non-articulable, so they’re collectibles only.
Still, we’ve reached out to a Sony rep to ask what they have in mind for this line. The series launches on March 23, 2018 and they’re only available through GameStop. A gallery of product shots is below.
