Watch day 3 of the group stage for the CS:GO ELeague Major: Boston here

The first major of 2018 is starting to look more like a changing of the guard than a few unexpected upsets

After two days, the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive ELeague Major: Boston has given more than its fair share of surprising results, with stalwart teams clearly taking a step back to the newer teams that are eager to prove themselves.

Day three starts on Jan. 20 at 10:00 a.m. EST, and every match will be broadcast live on the ELeague Twitch channel.

Why you should watch

So far, this major has seemed like one upset after another, but as the group stage clears its halfway point, it may be time to start asking if we should really be so surprised. Perhaps we are seeing a new class of elite CS:GO teams rise up, and what better place than in a group stage that ELeague is calling New Legends.

Over the last two days, old favorites like North and Virtus.Pro have seemed outpaced by newer talent. But these veteran players earned their status as some of the game’s best not on talent alone, but their ability to stay relevant and adapt as CS:GO has grown around them. Day three might be the perfect time for these teams to retake their place as some of the best in the world.

Elsewhere in day three’s schedule is a face-off that’s always a treat, SK Gaming versus FaZe Clan. The undisputed top two teams in the world have met several times recently, in matches usually going the way of SK. This is their first meeting of 2018, and with SK looking shakier than usual, FaZe has the chance to cement itself as the world’s best CS:GO team.
