Poppy is getting her own YouTube Red series, officially making her one of YouTube’s most mainstream personalities.
Poppy made her debut on YouTube in 2014 and quickly became one of the most watched creators on the platform. She gained notoriety for her weird vlogs that imagined her as a human trying to be an android. Other YouTubers, including PewDiePie, parodied Poppy as she rose to fame.
A trailer for I’m Poppy, a new YouTube Red series that currently only has one episode, can be seen above. The pilot will make its debut at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on Jan. 23, and will be made available for YouTube Red subscribers as of Jan. 25. The series will be directed and written by Titanic Sinclair, Poppy’s longtime creative partner.
The series will star Poppy and her terrifying mannequin friend Charlotte, who becomes jealous of the internet star after she signs a deal with a television network for a series. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Poppy series without some kind of macabre aspect. As Poppy tries to become the next hot television star, she makes a pact with Satan to become “the most famous girl in the entire world.” This naturally results in a religious cult attempting to kidnap her from a TV station.
It’s downright Poppy.
Those who aren’t subscribed to YouTube Red but want to watch Poppy in all her glory can sign up for the top-tier programming block for $9.99 a month. Subscribers can also watch YouTube videos ad-free.
